Updated Guidelines Regarding Submission of Contracts to the Office of the General Counsel and/or the Office of the Attorney General
- Contracts valued at $25,000 or less.
• Effective immediately, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has increased the threshold value for contracts that must be submitted to the AGO for review and approval to $25,000.
• All contracts with a value of $25,000 or less no longer require approval of the AGO.
• No terms within the contracts should reference approval by the AGO and there should be no signature line for the AGO.
• Except as provided in Section 2, below, please continue to submit contracts with a value of $25,000 or less, including no-cost contracts, to the OGC Contract website: http://uconncontracts.uconn.edu/contract-submission-prereview/.
• OGC will not approve these contracts, so no signature line is required. However, the OGC will continue to review and advise on contracts of this value. - Templates.
• UConn and the AGO recently entered into an agreement to exempt certain contracts (of any value) on approved templates from review and approval by the AGO.
• The approved templates are posted on our website.
• If you use the approved templates, with no modification, your contract, regardless of value, will not require submission to this office
• A chart detailing submission requirements appears below. - Retention of Contracts.
• All University Departments must retain copies of all executed contracts and accompanying forms according to the State of CT records retention schedules, see: http://records.compliance.uconn.edu/.
• The contracts and forms are subject to audit by UConn, the AGO and the State of Connecticut.
• Copies of all fully executed Facilities Use Agreements must be submitted to the OGC as the University’s central retention site. Please email executed copies to: uconncontracts@uconn.edu. - Revised State Terms.
• We have updated the State Required Contract Provisions document on our website. Please be sure to always check the website and use the latest version of these terms in all contracts.
